At GTL Training, we offer training adapted to « Sproochentest ». Our goal is to help you improve your language skills in Luxembourgish, to progress to pass the test and to achieve your goals. Learning Luxembourgish is also ideal because it allows you to increase your chances of finding a job quickly and easily.

Oral Production Test / A2

1) Level required:

In order to pass the « Sproochenstest », candidates must reach the level of the oral production test corresponds to level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for oral production and interaction. 

A2 Level Outcomes:

“Candidates must be able to introduce themselves and use simple language to talk about their family and other people, their living conditions, and their training or occupation. They must also be capable of using simple language to describe and compare people, things and activities.”

2) Content and procedure:

The oral production test is in composed of two parts: :

1 –  The examiner and the candidate discuss a given topic briefly. The candidate is presented with two topics by the examiner and is asked to select one of them. Possible subjects usually include: work, occupation, training, family, friends, hobbies, food and drink, the media, travel, holidays, languages.

2 – The second part is a description of a photograph. The candidate is presented with three photographs and is asked to select one of three photographs and describe it.

The oral production test lasts about ten minutes.

3) Assessment

The test takes place before two examiners. Each of the examiners assesses the candidate separately as soon as the test has been completed, according to the following criteria:

vocabulary
use of basic grammatical structures
fluidity
clarity
task fulfilment
Coherence
ability to make oneself understood
Interaction

Listening Comprehension Test / B1

1) Level Required:

The level of the listening comprehension test corresponds to level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for listening comprehension:

« The candidate can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. The candidate can understand the main points of many radio or TV programs on current topics or matters of personal or professional interest when the delivery is relatively slow and clear.’ »

2) Content and Procedure:

The listening comprehension test is in three parts:

1 – A Radio news item
2 – An everyday conversation between two people
3 – A discussion or presentation of a specific subject
Each of the listening parts includes a recording along with recorded questions. After each recording, the candidate is asked to answer the multiple-choice questions by marking his/her answer on an answer sheet.
The listening comprehension test lasts about 25 minutes.

3) Evaluation

The answer sheets of the candidates are corrected by two correctors following a grid of correction.
Passing Criteria

A candidate is considered to have passed the test if he/she obtains at least half the possible marks in the oral production test. An insufficient score can be compensated by the mark in the listening comprehension test.
GTL Training offers a tailored training to facilitate candidates to pass the . « “Sproochentest” ». What candidates really need is a targeted advice on how to prepare for a pass mark. Our training assists candidates through teaching the following skills:

Accent and pronunciation:

Although you’re not expected to speak like a native, but the examiner must be able to understand you. Our trainers help candidates acquire a decent accent and because they have proven expertise.
If you don’t have time for classes, or you need flexibility, GTL Training also offers one-on-one classes that can work around your busy schedule.
Whatever option you pick, our teachers can get you that pass mark accent at your own convenience.

Describing pictures can be tricky and is a very important part of the speaking test. Here are a few examples the pictures that candidates may be asked to describe:

A waiting room at an airport
A town high street with a street performer
Four students and a teacher sitting around a computer
A family cooking together in a kitchen
